Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region

Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, or Ningxia for short, is one of the five largest autonomous regions in China. Located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River in western China, it borders Shaanxi Province in the east, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the west and north, and Gansu Province in the south. The distance between north and south is about 456 kilometers, and the distance between east and west is about 250 kilometers. The total area is more than 66,000 square kilometers. Administrative division

In March 2015, the administrative area of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region was divided into 5 prefecture-level cities, 9 municipal jurisdictions, 2 county-level cities, 11 counties. 

Location

Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is located between 35°14’ ~ 39°23’ north latitude and 104°17’ ～ 107°39’ longitude east. The outline of Ningxia territory is long from north to south and short from east to west is 456 kilometers.

Climate environment

Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is located in the northwest inland plateau. It is a typical continental semi-humid and semi-arid climate. The rainy season is concentrated in June-September. There is a long drought here, the annual rainfall is about 300 mm, but the evaporation is more than 1000 mm.

Resources

Mainly coal and non-metals, metal minerals are relatively scarce. More than 50 kinds of minerals have been proved, of which coal reserves rank sixth in China, and the installed power capacity is 55.87 million kilowatts.

Ningxia's gypsum deposits rank first in China, with proven reserves of more than 4.5 billion tons, and primary products account for more than half of the reserves.

According to the Bulletin of the seventh national census of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in 2020, the permanent population of Ningxia is 7,202,654.

Economic

According to the preliminary economic data released by Ningxia Bureau of statistics in 2020, the GDP of the whole region is 392.055 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 3.9%. According to the industrial division, the added value of the primary industry was 33.801 billion yuan, up 3.3% year on year; The added value of the secondary industry was 160.896 billion yuan, up 4.0% year on year; The added value of the tertiary industry was 1973.58 billion yuan, an increase of 3.9%.

Tourism

Ningxia is a poetic place. One river and two mountains constitute the spirit and scenery of Ningxia. There are 10 categories and 95 basic types of tourism resources in China, while there are 8 categories and 46 types in Ningxia, which are known as the miniature bonsai of Chinese tourism.

In August 2017, Ningxia was officially awarded the founding unit of national global tourism demonstration zone, becoming the second approved provincial global tourism demonstration zone founding unit in China.
